Welcome to the Cakes at Rachel's Boutique Wedding Cakes section. This is where the magic happens! Let me talk you through ordering a cake and answer some of the most common questions for you.
So, you've arrived on my Wedding Cakes page, why isn't there a price list? Well, wedding cakes are extremely personal and it is difficult to price them based on a one size fits all approach. My prices haven't changed, all it means is that I now give you a tailored, personal-to-you quote.
First Enquiry Okay, now you've become curious and want to know more? It's easy, the next step is to contact me via email, or Facebook message, or the contact page on this website, all the links are at the bottom of this page. Send me some details! I need to know the date of your wedding so I can check availability for you, if you wish to collect your wedding cake, I will need to know the date of that too. I also need to know how many portions you need, just a rough number will be fine, it doesn't need to be exact. Do you have an idea in mind? A colour scheme? Something sentimental or personal to you and your spouse-to-be adding to your cake? Tell me as much as you can about it! The more I know about your cake, the more accurate an initial quote I'll be able to give you. Don't worry if you have no ideas, that's what the next step is for.
Consultation Now you've contacted me and we've confirmed availability, what happens next? Well, I like to meet all my wedding customers for a consultation at my home. There is no obligation to book your wedding cake with me, I don't do hard sell, it's just a chance for you to meet me and have a chat about your cake over a cup of tea or coffee.
There is a £20 fee for consultations to cover packaging costs for your cake samples. All cake samples now come individually wrapped and beautifully presented in a luxury keepsake box for you to take away to try at your leisure. If you then choose to go ahead and book your wedding cake with me, the £20 will be deducted from your order.
If you would like a wedding cake sample box posted out to you, please contact me to order via the links above or via the contact page. P&P charges will apply, but the £20 will still be deducted from your order total if you choose to book with me.
Do you have a favourite flavour you would like to order? No problem, just let me know, I'll research it, practice it, and make it for you. I bake and decorate all my cakes in my home kitchen, you're welcome to come and have a nosy. I hold wedding consultation days roughly once every two months, you can find out when my next one is by messaging me on my Facebook page, or by emailing me. I usually advertise the next date on the home page of the website - here.I firmly believe your cake consultation should be an exciting part of your whole wedding planning experience, just like trying on your wedding gown or having your hair done, and am hoping that this will just enhance it!
Booking in At your tasting session, we will discuss everything about your order from how many tiers you want, to what colour ribbon, and by the time you leave, you will be full of cake samples and know exactly what your bespoke wedding cake is going to look like and taste like! Want to take the rest of your samples home? I'll pack it up for you to take with you. When you've decided on your cake and decorations, I'll give you the final price and if you're happy with everything, we'll arrange the deposit. This is what gets your order into my diary, after this point you are all booked in and confirmed.
What next? You've had your consultation, now what happens? I will take all the notes on your wedding cake and transfer them into an order form. Once I've got everything written down, I'll hand it to you to check over and sign if everything is correct, and then I'll provide you with a copy of your form, and a leaflet which will give you all the small print. It's getting official now! Excited? I am, I love making wedding cakes!
That's it now, you can concentrate on organising the rest of your wedding safe in the knowledge your cake is all taken care of. I will be in touch with you before I start baking and prepping to confirm any little bits that need confirming, and then your cake will be under construction. I will ask you if you'd like a photo sending across when I've finished putting it all together, but if you don't, the next time you see it will be when you walk in and see it all set up in place on the big day.
Thank you for having a read through, I hope you choose Cakes at Rachel's for your boutique wedding cake, and I look forward to meeting you! While you're here, why not pop across and browse through the Flavour Range, or have a look through the Wedding Cake Gallery.....

In other news....
I'm very proud to have had one of my wedding cakes included in the Autumn/Winter 2015 Wedding Cakes Magazine, an internationally recognised publication. Hopefully this is the start of many more inclusions!
In March 2017, I was approached to make a cake for a couple who were taking part in E4's Don't Tell The Bride programme. Since I like a challenge, I accepted, and with just three days notice managed to turn out a three tier Beauty and the Beast themed cake. It was nerve-wracking when they came to collect it with cameras and film crew, and I was in such a dither, I was pretty glad when they left me on the cutting room floor and just included the cake! Unfortunately the cake took a hit in their car on the way to the venue, but the groom managed to rescue it and the bride and guests seemed to really like it when they saw it, so I'd say mission accomplished! Would I do it again? Maybe sometime in the future, but currently not on your nelly!
